Cheerio

Quick run away! The blogging police are after us! As you can see, we are busy. Hiding, that is. No we haven’t done anything illegal this time, it’s just been forever and a day since we last came to our little creative corner in the blog world. So with promises (pinky promises) to be better, here we are. With a finished quilt, no less. *Drumroll*

The Love Patchwork and Quilting issue 8 cover page just about gave us a heart attack. Seriously. Cutest thing on the planet.

With summer in full swing around here we decided on a bright color combo to match the weather. We even included orange. Orange is really unappreciated in quackadoodlequilt land. Sad, but true.

We chose a bright turquoise backing fabric to give the quilt a little extra something-something. After machine quilting and squaring up we panicked. About binding.

With the dark backing print we figured we'd better balance out the quilt with a mostly-white binding. The orange dots matched marvelously with the quilt and after all was said and done the binding was a success. We will use more white bindings in the future. Here's a link to where you can purchase the quilt:

Suburbs

Mission accomplished. Another quilt in the shop. We're on a roll.

The pattern is Suburbs by Cluck Cluck Sew. The fabric? Wallflowers for Windham Fabrics by Allison Harris.

We tried a little bit of creativity with the machine quilting. Creativity in Anna and Sarah lingo means bravery. We did our basic loopdy loop but went around twice to create a double loop. Sometimes it pays off to be brave. Like today:

The house pattern was a fun make because it's different than the average quilt block. If there is such a thing ;)

Cut. Cut. Cut.

Digging through our scraps we loosely pulled together a primary color scheme. Eenie. Meenie. Miney. Moe. Ok. The selection wasn't that random. But just about :)

In limbo

All our sewing projects have been in limbo for about the last....month(?) You do the math---our last blog post was on May 2 and today is June 2. Yup. One month. It feels good to be back on our bloggy blog.

This Churn Dash quilt was inspired by Southwestern colors and is very colorful! It took a little thinking outside of the box to make it happen and we are pleased with the results. If you want the free tutorial for the blocks you can head on over to Cluck Cluck Sew.

Just in case you were wondering (we knew you were!) the machine quilting is a stipple pattern. It is our go-to as far as machine quilting is concerned. But we've probably already mentioned that :)

The binding. Ooohhh...the binding.  Stripes do us in everytime.

The binding happens to be a vintage sheet that we found at a thrift store. Vintage sheets are cheap and make for good bindings, and backings, and squares, and... you get the picture :)

One more close-up:

If you would like to purchase this quilt,  it is listed in the shop. We are on a mission to get the shop full of quilts...let the sewing rampage begin!

Well, that about wraps it up. There are some other goodies to show you later this week so keep your eyes peeled :)
