Squaring Up

If it was up to us we would NEVER square up our blocks... let's be honest no-one loves to square up :) Needless to say, squaring up is normally something we skip in the quilting process. Our blocks turn out square most of the time, but these blocks were really off because they were cut out from templates. We ended up squaring them up to make them lovely:

Only now that it is finished, we realize it was worth the time it took! Our quilt is coming together nicely, but now the problem is size. The quilt was a little on the small side to begin with, and it shrunk so much after squaring, that now we have to make (and square!) more blocks. Which really isn't a problem at all... :)

Have a Great Friday!

Stripey Pillows

This week we decided it would be fun to make some new pillows with our mom. The striped fabrics on the front of the pillows came from fabric samples.

We made the pillows opposites so that they would contrast each other. It's fun to have pillows that aren't exactly the same, but still match.

We love how the pillows are neutral but decorative...that's exactly what we were going for.

So On and So Forth

(you can find this poster here.)
Summer is officially over: we're back to schedules, routines, and less time free-time...(but not less quilting). If you sew in every spare moment you have, a lot can be accomplished.

In just a few short days, we cut all the fabric for our next quilt. We've been working on the blocks here-and-there, and hopefully in the near-future we will have all the blocks done.

Finished: Shortcake Bed Quilt

It's always nice to have a quilt finished and off the to-do list. Don't get us wrong...we LOVE quilting, but there's always a feeling of accomplishment when you complete that last stitch. This quilt came together so much quicker than expected, which was a pleasent surprise! Now that summer is coming to a close, we have a feeling that not as much quilting and blogging will be happening around here (sorry!), so it's nice to finish up those last minute projects.

It's kind of overwhelming when you first start making a queen quilt, but if you work on it here and there it is SO much fun and really easy!! The quilting went smoothly and turned out beautiful...gotta love basting spray :) - how do you pin-basters do it??? You're amazing!

The quilt pattern is Shortcake from Cluck Cluck Sew. If you haven't noticed we are addicted to her blog! Happy Quilting and have a fabulous end to your summer!
