We finally clipped the last of the strings on these quilts. If we had a penny for every string we clipped, we would be rich. If we had a penny for every string we didn't clip we would be even richer :) You know how that goes ;)
We always end up folding our quilts multipe times before they can fit in a box. The secret to making a quilt LOOK like it's folded perfectly (even when it's not) is to stick abow and a card on it :)
We finished up the last of our business cards (or else we lost them in all our mess)...either way we needed to print out a fresh batch of Quackadoodle Quilt cards:
You never know where a box has been so we always make sure there's an extra layer between the quilt and the box...(aka tissue paper!)
We're professional at making a quilt fit in any size box. All you need is a little elbow grease! Think: Shove. Now you know all our packaging secrets!

Kaleidoscope
Our kaleidoscope quilt is done! This quilt was a little
tricky because we were making it for someone who is color blind. The colors had
to be really bright. Luckily, the
brown accents make the quilt more toned down…and less like a box of crayons. We
were worried that with so many colors it would look too much like a little kid
quilt, but it turned out just how we wanted it to.
We used brown thread on this quilt instead of our typical white. We ran out of thread (after four spools!) with only 5 blocks to go…just our luck!

Now we’re off to clip strings and package it up!

A Better Look
When we pulled this quilt out of its hiding spot, we realized that we never showed you this quilt… and we love this one. Scrappy quilts always put a smile on our faces. The wrinkles are screaming IRON ME!!... too bad we will just shove it back into its closet along with all the other wrinkly quilts :) Ahem…Ironing is not our favorite.
This quilt makes us want to put together another scrappy quilt. Darn it! We’re already in the process of making um…5(?) quilts. Maybe more. We don’t need anymore projects. So there it is…our wrinkly-scrappy-bright skipping squares quilt…all blogged up! Finally :)
POST EDIT: A tutorial for this quilt can be found here.

Jellybean
This is our newest finished project. It's been a while since we've had one of those around here. This quilt was really fun to make because it is very different than any other quilt we have made. We've been collecting fabric remnants for a while in hopes of someday making a quilt. We also threw in some scraps, which we weren't so sure about at first, that we now love.
On this quilt we tried two new things. 1) We used pins to baste. The pins were just as easy as the basting spray, maybe even easier. The quilt was not as stiff with the pins, making it easier to machine quilt. We also preferred the pins because we don't like the sticky-stinky part of spray basting. We are definitely using pins in the future! 2) We pieced our batting together. We were all out of batting, and we had so many scraps that we figured we would give it a try. We butted up 2 batting scraps and sewed using a zigzag stitch on our walking foot. It was a great way to save money and get rid of the enormous heap of batting scraps that we are collecting. :)
The quilt pattern is Jellybean by Thimble Blosssoms. This quilt pattern is super easy...even beginners can make it!
This quilt is posted in our etsy shop.

Home Away from Home
JoAnn's is like a second home to us because we're there at least once a week. It's probably some kind of quilting sin to shop at JoAnn's, but that doesn't stop us from going. :)
JoAnn's is hands down the best place to buy fabric. With coupons, sales, and low prices, we are never disappointed. Even though it is very tempting to buy expensive designer fabric (and very easy to let yourself do it), we keep it cheap so we can make more quilts.
We snagged these cute fabrics at JoAnn's yesterday. Cutting and sewing will be happening soon...as soon as we can pull ourselves away from this blog post :)

October
Can you believe it is already October? Geez, where does the time go? We just barely got used to the idea of September. Do you realize that in one month (one month!) Christmas music will be on the radio? Time flies.
Since it's October, we thought we'd better start a fall-ish quilt. We tried a different color scheme with the fabrics, and are finding that it's okay to go outside of our comfort zone...even if it's a little scary :)
Decorating is another thing we look forward to in October. It's fun to spruce up the house with seasonal decor.
Looking at all this orange makes us want pumpkin pie! Yum!
