Swell

The pattern, Swell, from Camille Roskelley's book, Simply Retro has been bookmarked for a while now. Look at us...on the ball for the New Year. It's only the first day and we finished a quilt ;)

We were worried that all the busy prints on this quilt would be hard on the eyes.We spent waaaaaay to long rearranging those pesky gingham prints. In the end, the solid navy border helped to balance out the busy busy middle.

The polka dot binding was one of those impulse buys. The kind where it-doesn't-matter-how-much-it-costs it's a must have. 

 

Oh, and before we forget, this quilt is in the shop. f.y.i.

The machine quilting was tricky on this quilt. White thread would stand out on the dark navy fabric, so we opted out of machine quilting the border. The middle got a simple stipple.

It was relaxing to hand sew the binding on. We haven't done it in a while because it takes for.eve.r.
