Finished: Shortcake Bed Quilt

It's always nice to have a quilt finished and off the to-do list. Don't get us wrong...we LOVE quilting, but there's always a feeling of accomplishment when you complete that last stitch. This quilt came together so much quicker than expected, which was a pleasent surprise! Now that summer is coming to a close, we have a feeling that not as much quilting and blogging will be happening around here (sorry!), so it's nice to finish up those last minute projects.

It's kind of overwhelming when you first start making a queen quilt, but if you work on it here and there it is SO much fun and really easy!! The quilting went smoothly and turned out beautiful...gotta love basting spray :) - how do you pin-basters do it??? You're amazing!

The quilt pattern is Shortcake from Cluck Cluck Sew. If you haven't noticed we are addicted to her blog! Happy Quilting and have a fabulous end to your summer!

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Yesterday we spent the day tracing and cutting out circles for a new quilt.

Today we are working on machine quilting our shortcake quilt.

and Tomorrow (or many more tomorrows to come) we hope to cut into this lovely fabric!

A Process

Quilting is a process.  It involves:

Basting…

Ironing…

Machine quilting…

Binding…

and (of course) admiring!

We love the process of quilting...that's why we spend so many hours working on quilt projects! There’s something fun about cutting up fabric and re-sewing it into something you can be proud of. This quilt is for sale on Etsy.

WIP (Work in Progress)

Isn't it amazing how many different shades of gray are in between black and white?

These fabrics are going to turn into a shortcake quilt one of these days...we just need to finish making all 132 (yikes!) blocks.

Big quilts always take a long time to make... but they are WELL WORTH the time!!!

A Finished Project

We've been trying to finish up some last minute summer projects, and today we decided to check off one more thing on our list: a valence.

The fabric is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. It was purchased at Home Fabrics.

With 1 yard, 1 hour, and 2 sewers this project went really fast!
