Happenings

Lots of things are happening around here. Yeah right. As far as quilty/bloggy/crafty things go, we've been coming up a little short. Like making scrap quilt #12349857102984573450987. Yup. For real.

We did however, print a score of quackadoodle cards. That's about as good as it gets :)

So besides taking the 4th trip to the Post Office this week and desperately needing time for quilting, nothing much has happened. Have a great long weekend!

Dresdens

Blogger is currently being difficult, so these pictures are not in any fancy order since we had to add each picture individually. Yeah, that's right. All 12 pictures. Oh wait, we just counted 11. One's missing...we're guessing it's blogger's fault? Let's keep this short and sweet...

A Dresden quilt deserves an "A" grade, but a vintage Dresden quilt? A++

This is the first applique quilt we attempted and we didn't feel like putting needles in our eyes. So that counts as a success right?

We used this pattern to make the Dresden blocks.

We backed the quilt with a vintage sheet we scored at the thrift store.

This quilt is chalked full of cute scraps. That bear might be the most darling thing ever. Period.

Some more close ups:

(Blogger is currently still being a pain)

Okay, looks like Blogger doesn't want to cooperate. Currently we don't really feel like putting up a fight right now. So there you have it, a cute Dresden quilt (for sale here) and a crazy blog post. Blogger we love you. *Major eye roll*.

In Full Swing

We are getting back into the swing of things and wanted to let you know that our Etsy shop is now full of some oldie but goodie quilts.

And as an incentive to buy some quilts, here is a coupon code for 15% off your purchase, good until the end of the month.

FALL15

Is it fall yet? ;)

Arrows

. Thumbing through Pinterest one day we saw this scrapbook paper.  We pinned it one day and it was a quilt top the next :)

We stuck with the color scheme on the scrapbook paper and found fabrics with small scale prints.

Don't you just love it when a quilt turns out exactly as you imagine it?

The pattern was a little tricky to think through...but once we figured out what size to make all the blocks it came together in a snap!

The colorful trimmings from a bazillion half square triangles. Hurts just thinking about all that cutting :)

We bought waaay too much fabric, so the extras became a scrappy binding!

The variation in the sizes of the chevrons really adds character to this quilt. Even though we had to use some templates. Grrr.

This quilt looks ready to snuggle sitting on the couch. Any takers?

The stipples crinkled this quilt famously. And now it doesn't matter if the stipples aren't perfect.

A minty green back to finish off the quilt. And there you have it.

4.3.2.1.

4 months ‘til Christmas. 3 Sold Quilts. 2 Trips to the Post Office. 1 Day. In regular English, that means that we sold 3 quilts yesterday! (We’ll get back to the Christmas thing later.) As soon as we took our Etsy shop out of vacation mode, our shop turned from full to empty in 24 hours. Maybe we should go on vacation more often… We’ll see how that goes over :)

Speaking of vacations, is it Christmas yet? (See, what did we tell you?) Yesterday we were wrapping up all these quilts, today we are drinking hot chocolate and planning a Christmas quilt, and we’ve had fudge twice in the last week. Hmm. We’re a little confused around here ;) Or not!

Now that we had our hot chocolate fix and the shop is empty and our sewing machines are back from the shop maybe, just maybe, it’s time for some sewing? (Wooh, that was a mouthful!)

And the answer to that question ^ is: “um, yeah.”

Inspiration

Gulp.A glass wall full of old sewing machines.

Don't know why this inspires us, but hey.

 Blooming flowers.

 A pink lamp post??

If this isn't cute, we don't know what is. Seriously, a tiny mint house on the lake. SOLD.

Love the geometric print on the shirt. Hmmm. A quilt perhaps?

Possibly the cutest door on earth. Yep.

 Flying geese fabric. What.

And finally something that we actually own :) A new collection of colorful thread. Definitely feeling inspired today.

Road Trip in Pictures

Just got back from a long road trip. Here's the short version:

Stopped by Crazy Horse:

Went to Mount Rushmore:

Stood out like a sore thumb as the only car among thousands of Sturgis bikers:

Watched all six hours of this. For goodness sakes!

Stopped at plenty of these:

Shopped till we dropped at Mall of America:

Visited Chicago:

Found this label on the back of a gigantic Reece's bar at the Hershey's store in Chicago:

We never want to eat a Reece's ever again. 1150 calories per cup? Bleh. Sounds like a heart attach waiting to happen. That's why we eat the small cups ;)

Now you know what we've been up to and you're all caught up. Forgive us for neglecting you?

In the Works

Projects, projects, projects. Whoever sewed those dresden plates need to clip strings ;) We'll get right to that.

Another happy squares quilt finished. Yummmmmmmm. The best part? Quilt eye candy has no calories ;)
